15.09 Summary and Homework Copy

Practical assignments:

These exercises aim to test if you know how to create a BCF report in Solibri, fix issues using BCF Manager, and how to synchronize and manage issues between Navisworks and the BIM Track platform.

NOTE: To complete these tasks, first, you need to do the challenges from module 14. Check lesson 14.13 Summary and Homework.

NOTE 2: To complete tasks you also need to have your BIM Track account created.

Files required to complete the tasks you can find here – Download

Challenge 15.1 – Hospital project

1. Open the 14.1_Hospital.nwf model you created in the previous module. It should contain clash results (clash groups and single clashes) from challenge 14.1

2. Create a new .nwf file, from it and save it in the same folder as 15.1_Hospital.nwf

3. Log in to your online BIM Track account, and create a separate project for this challenge – call it 15.1_Hospital_Project.

4. In BIM Track, go to Project Settings and add 5 disciplines in the “Discipline” section. Disciplines are: Architectural, Structural, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing.

5. In Navisworks, open BIM Track using a plugin and connect it to the newly created project in BIM Track.

6. Using Clashes to Issues command import all single clashes and clash groups from Clash Detective (these which you created in challenge 14.1). Assign correctly clashes from each clash test to proper BIM Track discipline. (e.g: plumbing issues to plumbing discipline).

7. Then open Hospital_BBC_PLUM.rvt (Plumbing) model in Revit. Revit files are located in 15.1_Revit_Models folder.

8. In Revit, open the BIM Track plugin and connect it to your project 15.1_Hospital_Project created in BIM Track. Then import clashes from the platform.

9. Locate at least 5 clashes/clash groups from imported issues that relate to Plumbing discipline. Then fix these issues in Revit.

10. Using BIM Track, change the status of fixed issues to Resolved and add a new comment to these issues informing that a problem was solved. Publish updated information about issues to BIM Track.

11. Export a new IFC file from the updated Hospital_BBC_PLUM.rvt file. Call it Hospital_BBC_PLUM.ifc and replace the old Plumbing model used to federate 15.1_Hospital.nwf.

12. Open 15.1_Hospital.nwf file again. Use the Refresh button in the Home ribbon panel to update the model with the new IFC from the previous point.

13. In Clash Detective tool use update all clash tests. All clashes and clash groups that were fixed in the Plumbing model, should automatically get the status Resolved in Clash Detective, If so, you have done the task correctly.

Challenge 15.2 – School project

1. Open the 14.2_School.nwf model you created in the previous module. It should contain clash results (clash groups and single clashes) from challenge 14.2

2. Create a new .nwf file, from it and save it in the same folder as 15.2_School.nwf

3. Log in to your online BIM Track account using web browser, and create a separate project for this challenge – call it 15.2_School_Project.

6. Using Clashes to Issues command import all single clashes and clash groups from Clash Detective (these which you created in challenge 14.2). Assign correctly clashes from each clash test to proper BIM Track discipline. (e.g: plumbing issues to plumbing discipline).

6. Then, go to your BIM Track in the web browser and open 15.2_School_Project.

7. In Report section, create an issue report that contains issue metrics and issues related only to HVAC and Plumbing discipline.

8. You can print this report as PDF and post it on our Facebook group😉 so others can look at your work.

REMEMBER – IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES WITH THESE CHALLENGES, GO TO OUR COMMUNITY GROUP AND WRITE THERE A POST EXPLAINING WHAT YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND. THIS IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET HELP FROM ME (IGNACY 😉) AND FROM OTHER BBC STUDENTS. GOOD LUCK.
