12.10 Summary and Homework Copy
These exercises aim to test if you know how to create a BCF report in Solibri, fix issues using BCF Manager, and how to synchronize and manage issues between Solibri and BIMcollab platform.
NOTE: To complete these tasks, first, you need to do the challenges from module 11.
NOTE 2: To complete task 12.2 you also need to have your BIMcollab account created.
Files required to complete the tasks you can find here – Download
Challenge 12.1 – Hospital project
1. Open the 11.1_Hospital.smc model you created in the previous module. It should contain issue slides from the challenge 11.1.
2. Create a new .smc file, from it and save it as 12.1_Hospital.smc.
3. Create a presentation in Solibri using the issue slides that you created in the previous challenge 11.1. Name this presentation 12.1_Issue_presentation.
4. Then create an issue report from this presentation. It has to be saved in BCF 2.1 format. The report has to contain only issues from ONE discipline. You decide which discipline will be included in the report. Call the issue report 12.1_Issue_report.bcf
5. Then open disciplinary model in Revit. Choose the same discipline as in point 4. So if you choose to create an issue report for only plumbing issues, then open 12_1_BBC_PLUM.rvt file. Revit files are located in 12.1_Revit_Models folder
6. In Revit, using the BCF Manager plugin from BIMcollab import BCF report 12.1_Issue_report from point 4.
7. Locate all issues from this report and fix them in the Revit model.
8. Using BCF Manager change the status of fixed issues to Resolved and add a new comment to these issues informing that a problem was solved.
9. Then export BCF file from BCF Manager and name it 12.1_Issue_report_resolved.bcf.
10. As a last step open 12.1_Hospital.smc file again, and update presentation – 12.1_Issue presentation using 12.1_Issue_report_resolved.bcf
Statuses and comments for resolved issues should be updated automatically. If so, you have done the task correctly.
Challenge 12.2 – School project
1. Open the 11.2_School.smc model, you created in the previous module. It should contain issue slides from challenge 11.2.
2. Create a new .smc file, from it and save it as 12.2_School.smc.
3. Go to your BIMcollab platform, and create a separate project for this challenge – call it 12.2_School_Project
4. In Solibri go to BCF Live Connector layout and connect it to the newly created project in BIMcollab
5. Then import all issues from checking results (these from challenge 11.2)
6. Synchronize all the issues to BIMcollab.
7. Then open one of the disciplinary models in Revit. You decide which you want to choose. Revit files are located in 12.2_Revit_Models folder
6. In Revit, using the BCF Manager plugin connect to your project 12.2_School_Project in BIMcollab and import issues from the platform
7. Locate at least 5 issues from this report which relate to the discipline from point 7. Find issues in the model and fix them in the Revit.
8. Using BCF Manager change the status of fixed issues to Resolved and add a new comment to these issues informing that a problem was solved.
9. Then synchronize issues back to BIMcollab
10. Export a new IFC file from the Revit model where you fixed issues.
11. Open 12.1_Hospital.smc file again, and update the model with the new IFC from the previous point.
12. Open BCF Live Connector layout and synchronize issues with BIMcollab.
Model geometry/data should be fixed for resolved issues. If so, you have done the task correctly.
REMEMBER – IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES WITH THESE CHALLENGES, GO TO OUR COMMUNITY GROUP AND WRITE THERE A POST EXPLAINING WHAT YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND. THIS IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET HELP FROM ME (IGNACY ) AND FROM OTHER BBC STUDENTS. GOOD LUCK.
